| The stories collected in this book tell about turning-points in life. „Letter with Pansy“ tells of a lonely postman who one day makes a very special delivery. „Journey to Mecca“ is about a bus driver who upon returning from a pilgrimage to Mecca suffers an accident with unforeseen consequences. The third story is about two Turkish soldiers experiencing defeat at the hands of the Russians during World War I. All of these stories are full of details, colour, emotion and fine humour. About the author: Mustafa Kutlu was born in Erzincan, Turkey in 1947. After completing his studies in Literature he went on to become a teacher in the subject. He has contributed to various literary periodicals since 1968. His stories mark a climax in modern Turkish literature. Along with short stories and essays he also writes scripts for cinema and television films. He is the recipient of many literary awards and his works have been translated into many languages. This book is his first to be translated into the German language. |
