Stress and burnout are the results of an individual losing his or her way in life. Giving in to outside demands, keeping a stiff-upper-lip, pushing, competing – we all, though especially physicians, work under enormous pressures that by and by lead to ossification. Supervision may relieve those pressures by bolstering your imagination and fantasy. Images promote psychic energy-flow. Genuine interest, time, confidence, courage, and finally, employing symbols which enable our minds to overcome the dire straits we find ourselves in. Klaus Ratheiser assembles various cases in point and demonstrates how images and symbols are the key to recovery as they open a door to the unconscious.
