| A lift that breaks down, a woman who refuses to eat solid food, a very different "first time", an "Ego-Shooter" gone out of control, a spouse who has disappeared, self-hatred with catastrophic consequences, a cruel trap and an attempt at independence – the stories in this book deal with turning-points in life. Nicole Makarewicz takes the reader to the very edge of the possible and bearable. What she has to tell is provocative, trying and oppressive. The reader is put on edge yet gladly follows her with nervous, voyeuristic fascination, recognising that these stories mirror aspects of the reader's own inner-self. This book also includes her award-winning short stories, "Ravenous Hunger" and "Forget-Me-Not". About the author: Nicole Makarewicz was born in Vienna in 1976.
